HAWKS on YOUTUBE

In an endeavour to promote the Wimbledon Hawks Australian Football Club, we have created 2 videos which capture the very essence of what the Hawks are all about. The first video shows the serious side of the Hawks "On the Field" which has some memorable and some forgettable moments
over the past few years.
Opens new window... [here]

The 2nd video shows our very unserious side "Off the Field" of the boys and girls that are part of the Hawks family. We pride ourselves on NOT
being your average Aussie Rules team where the only people you meet are Aussies or the only pubs you visit are the Walkabout or Red Back etc. Just a warning though, the following footage does contain some nudity or
should I say Adult Humour. ;-)

We hope you enjoy the videos and hope to bring you more REAL LIVE ACTION as we commence the 2007 Season.

 Welcome to the Hawks Nest

Dear Hawkers,

Just some dates for your diary. We realise that summer is about travel and parties so we dont want to commit the Hawks to too many outings. We dont ask much but here are some definite dates to keep free and try to be in London for.
Sat May 17 - Ladies Day - Bring your girls down to Motspur Parl for free drinks and meet all the wives, girlfriends, sisters, mums and misstresses, all the while cheering on the boys.
Sun May 25 (Bank holiday weekend) - Not an official hawks outing but if you are in town then a lot of us will be heading to see DJ Jonny "Rotten" Haze turning back the clock and busting out some phat beats on the decks at the White House in Clapham. This will be a big night to support our favourite red head. Sorry Spike.
Sat 7 June - Epsom Derby Day. You all should already know about this one. We play on the Sunday v Swans
Sat June 21 - Trivia Night - The biggest night on the calender. Obviously this night will hold special meaning this year and it is our biggest fundraiser. The big fella will no doubt want a big turnout and of course for us to get as loose as possible, so I expect everyone who isnt away travelling to be there. Mark your calenders NOW.
Sat July 5 - Boat Cruise - TBC, but there will be a function this night. We are looking into a disco cruise from Kingston up the Thames. Should be a cheesy fun night out!
Sat/Sun Aug 3/4 - Semi finals
Sat Aug 10 - Preliminary Final
Sat Aug 17 - Grand final
Sun Aug 18 - Presentation Day - The most fun you can have with a power point presentation. Always a cracking day. So all we are really asking for is Saturday nights out of the year the rest are during the day so shouldnt be too hard to get along to. Any questions feel free to ask

Michael Carroll - Rest in Peace

Sadly, on Wednesday 20th February 2008, after a battle with severe depression, a truly great hawker, Michael Carroll took his own life.

Ever since joining the Hawks he was a great ambassador, player and coach, and more importantly a great friend to all who knew him. The effort and time he put in the club over the years was invaluable. He was the Hawks mastermind.

Our condolences go out to Casey and Mick's family and our thoughts are with them. Casey has set up a Facebook group, "Michael Carroll - Rest In Peace", for anyone that would like to join and leave a message.

It's great to see that some of the hawks are going back for his funeral which will be held on Thursday 28th February in Canberra.

For those in London, we will be having drinks on Saturday 23rd at Rinky Dink in Clapham North from 2pm. We will also be holding a memorial service at St Mary's Church, 30 St Mary's Road, Wimbledon, London SW19 7BP, at 3pm on Wednesday 27th February. Please join us to celebrate the life of a true legend, a great hawker and a great friend.

Pre-season training begins!!!!!!

Join us for a meet and greet, a light run around with the footy’s and maybe a game of touch or kick to kick. Then we can head off the pub and catch up. Please bring down old and new players and let's get the season going!
Any questions please give the hawkline a ring or Tim Garrett on 07963941193

Wimbledon Hawks fly the Hawks flag in the UK

The Wimbledon Hawks are pleased to announce their affiliation with the Hawthorn Football Club. Founded in 1990, the Wimbledon Hawks play in the highest division of the British Australian Rules Football League (BARFL). Each team is made up of 18 players and 4 reserves, and at least half the players must be European. The Hawks family come from all over the world including England, Ireland, New Zealand, Canada, Holland, Australia and South Africa. The club won the premiership in 1993, 1994, 1996 and 1998, and were runners up in 2006, 2005, 2004, 2001 & 1997. Their second team, the Fulham Hawks, play in the Conference division.

The Wimbledon Hawks consider the relationship an extremely important one for the club in their quest for premiership glory in 2006. In recent years the club have added women's touch football and netball to the list of sports the Hawks name is associated with, with the netball team winning the flag in both Summer and Autumn and the touch football team finishing 2nd. They are building up their presence in the UK and extending the reach of the Hawks community. If anyone is interested in helping to run a netball and/or touch team, please Contact Us

Director of Football Michael Carroll said "Affiliation with the Mighty Hawthorn Hawks is a natural progression for the club, and a further extension of the Hawks family around the globe. The support they have provided the Wimbledon Hawks has been tremendous and we look forward to many fruitful seasons ahead for both teams. As a sporting community, The Wimbledon Hawks open their arms to players, friends and supporters around the world. We are proud to wear the Hawthorn Football club's colours and look forward to building and strengthening our relationship in the future. If we can do anything to help futher establish the Hawks brand in the UK, we would gladly do it."

The Hawks welcome players and supporters of all nationalities, fitness, size and skill. Whether you have the ability to coach the team or just have a social kick, the Hawks are the club for you. With Hawks famous pub crawls, quiz nights, and end of season and mid season trips to locations such as Spain, Sweden, Germany and Portugal, you really can't go wrong socially either. And just for good measure, we have a Heat DJ and a promoter in our midst so if clubbing is your style, you will carve it up

Wimbledon is a beautiful area with a lively night life and we are proud to call it our home.  Be sure to come down during summer and support the All England Lawn Tennis Championships at Wimbledon; Pat Rafter and Lleyton Hewitt are amongst the greats of the game who have donned Wimbledon Hawks attire.

And we don't forget the girls! Our busy social calendar gives plenty of opportunities to don a frock and have a good time. And on match days who wouldn't want to watch an oval full of prime beef running round in "those" shorts! So come on down...
